Open Frame: Camden launches - 20/04/2026

In November last year we launched the very first iteration of the Open Frame: Camden Short Film Fund. The fund was setup by Born By A River - through Camden’s Future Camden Fund - to champion innovation in storytelling with the aim of supporting author-driven work in alignment with Born By A River’s priorities: bold, passionate storytelling attentive to topics related to diasporas, disabilities, gender and sexualities.

The selected filmmaker is writer/director Eileen Gbagbo who has been partnered with independent producer Tega Okiti. Project partners include bespoke camera and lens rental house Focus Canning, Old Diorama Arts Centre for venue hire, and Cinebox handling the technical aspects of film delivery, including digital formats, and digital cinema package. The film forms part of a wider research programme exploring inclusive and wellbeing-centred filmmaking practices.

Eileen’s film Wide Tooth Comb is a contemporary romantic comedy rooted in the intimacy of Black domestic life.
